Garage Screen summer pavilion

Our proposal for Garage screen competition is a hybrid that combines the rigid functional requirements of cinema projection and lighting with temporary nature of the summer cinema park pavilion. The black box of the main hall hovers above the square. The space below the auditorium remains completely free. Podium of the ground level is covered with artificial black grass, which absorbs both light and background noise of the surroundings. Sparse grid of columns allows a variety of activities on the ground level, or it may remain a covered part of the square, while during the show it becomes a lobby and a foyer before the auditorium.
Structure of the pavilion is as simple and technological as possible. Modular scaffolding system bears roof and walls made of acoustic metal panels. The annual plants placed on the facades emphasize the temporary nature of the building.
